40k miles soon...Eeek

Sitting at 37K miles right now, and waiting 2-3 more months for my new build, I can almost anticipate something happening in the next 60 days. Water pump I know is good for another 20k at least. Belts soon, oil change very soon, 4 tires being replaced in about a month, front brakes and rear brakes were just changed not too long ago. I'll be about 10,000 miles over my lease, so I'm just wondering what can happen. I know it's also about luck but you never know with these cars b/w 40k and 70k.

Not even run in

We have run these engines and running gear to over 250'000 miles with only minimal problems at work ... And trust me they have been hard miles

Stop worrying

sitting in the same place as you. 38k 2014 X3 35i Msport...I purchased new in mid 2013...love the car but as I understand in the US 4 yr 50k which ever comes first. I've begun to recently have issues. started off small, replaced glove box due to separation. recently threw a drive train malf drive mod warning. found to be leaking HPFP hose. 2 days late CEL on off intermittently found some other bad connections. I hope I can make it until I can order the new refreshed X3 40i Msport

Obviously your car has gone through more vigorous miles quicker than usual considering mine is a full year older yet same mileage. Just to be clear I did a hard break in with this engine and I drive hard enough that I add at least one quart of 5W-30 every three months. So I'm surprised at what I see going on with you. My car gets redlined ALOT btw. Do you drive hard at all? I hope none of these things happen to me or the next owner. Do you think you're just having bad luck?

Jeez that's odd. I know it's sounds weird but these cars love to rev and they operate better over the long run when driven as they were intended, within limits of course. And following a strict preventive maintenance schedule is key but really only after 80k miles. My 1999 540i went to 288k miles my friend. I owned it beginning with 242k. Lol insane some of these machines.

That's reassuring. The SO has just bought a 2011 one with 56k on the clock. She's going to get an easier life now.
