TPMS problems with wheel change

Hey folks, I picked up some 20 inch staggered 310's off a 2015 x3. I had square 19 inch 309's that will be for my winter wheels. Tpms will not read the 2015 sensors.
Is this a code problem with the staggered tires? Or do I need different tpms in the rims?
I was reading that both years use the same frequency but the stems or antenna's are different.
Replacing the stems are only fourteen bucks each but new sensors are a different matter. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

I have staggered 310:s as summer tires. I bought 18" winter tires from local tireshop - Conti Contact with studs - they programmed pirate TPMS to fit X4, and after calibration in my car they worked.

I guess my real question is getting 2015 tpms units to work on a 2012. Is it doable

I'm away from my PC or I would go this for you, but check realoem.com to see if the part numbers are the same for the TPMS sensors on both model years. If they are, then you likely have a bad TPMS sensor.

Yeah, sorry I had to ask about the reset. Well new aftermarket tpms goes for $25-$55 each ( non BMW stamped but same part). I'm sure you could make your money back easily by selling to a fellow member. They last about 5 to 7 years. One on my wife's Acura just went out last week and its about 7 years on the dot. I'm probably just going to replace all 4 so I don't have to see the display lit up again.

2 possible outcomes.

1. sensors are not compatible 2012 vs 2015, there is no signal or communication between TPMS and sensors.

2. maybe during installation, sensors were damaged giving a malfunction errror
