ROBNYC - Cool. I'll have to look that up then when the time comes

When you log, What are you looking for? Timing drops in each of the cylinders?

Hey Rob, I have been in touch with the guys over at Scantool, the makers of OBDLink LX, to see if it can log certain parameters with it, including throttle position (as seen by the engine) as well as the actual throttle position (my foot), timing corrections on all 6 cylinders, timing on each cylinder, and other things like fuel pressure for high pressure and low pressure pumps, and long term and short term fuel trims. Not just the standard stuff like RPM, speed, etc.

And to be able to export them somehow to a spreadsheet format?

They replied with:

Our scan tools and software only read diagnostics from emissions data on vehicles that are OBDII complaint. Unfortunately, monitoring the cylinders is not something we have control over as it's the vehicle that determines if it's supported.

So then I asked: Do you mean that info is not communicated thru the OBDII port?

And they said:

It depends if the vehicles ECU communicates that information with our scan tool and software.

The answer they gave me isn't really convincing in that it can do so, so I thought I would reach out to you to see if you could tell me if it is possible to log the things I want?

ScanTool has their OBD2 Adapter and free software but i dont use it for data logging. The OBDLINK LX (tool/adapter) does work with TorquePro or Dash Command for ex, these are full capability apps u should look into.

We did get JB4 M235 which all lost badly to the ECU Flash (EnzoTuned), posted their time slips

I do data-logging with Torque Pro via OBDLINK LX and also I test each setting for a few miles before stomping on it which I did throughout the weekend. Yep there's a RaceChip Video How To on how to increase settings etc. Usually the best way is to have a feel for the car as each car will have a different tolerance. In my case during the winter I took a challenge and was testing each setting for 50-100 miles. C (stock for N20) but B is stock for N55. So the lowest setting on RC is 8 and the highest is 7.
8,9,A,B,C,D,E,F,0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7

at C it equals Dinan levels and at D its already 1% increase, and so on. At 2/3/4 settings was when I was able to match the 35i stock performance. But it has been shown on F with DP does the best balance for long-term & performance.

But I believe the F15 folks can explain better on that regards than I can.
Interesting... I have a JB tune x3 35i. Probably not as fast as a properly ECU tuned one but I am curious to see how fast it would go. I might join you guys in August if i don't run into any travel plans.

Perfect! Need to see how your BMS Stage1 35i does against a stock 35i and 2 tuned X28i

We're playing with the dates for the month of July to see when we can go to Raceway
We'll be going August 21st to Island Dragway again as of now is our schedule date for August.

Hey Rob, I'm still not clear if you can actually see the parameters I am interested in (see bold part of my post above I have quoted)? What app are you running with your OBDLINK LX? Can you check with it to see if you can check off the above parameters to log them while driving?

I actually reached out to DashCommand people too, and got yet another non committal answer:

Yes Dashcommand will log timing it will not log corrections as it can not tune. Fuel pressure may be supported I am not able to advise this depends on your specific vehicle. A scan tool is a logging tool as well, Dashcommand will log the information given from your vehicle easily by starting a data log.

I'm not about to start buying a bunch of adapters and apps / softwares to try out unfortunately. Can't believe noone has already gone thru this process with our cars...

Bump is Boost Season!
Went to the drag last night

- X3 35i Crashnbrn5
- ME X3 28i EnzoTuned w/ Enzo's Custom DP
- X3 28i EnzoTuned w/ ER DP mge92
- jamoka3 F30 328 Active8
- Aatish F30 335 stock

Last time we had about 8-10 BMWs, last night was so crowded we barely got 2 runs in. But the fun started afterwards 2 lane back-roads =D

Next week the fun starts again!
