Ok, I was originally looking at an X5d but according to my husband, I'm entirely too spoiled and we can't afford all the bells and whistles that I want on it. LOL.

So, my next choice is the X3M. My question is, how much did those of you who chose the silver roof rails and silver window trim have to pay to switch that out? They wanted 1150 to do it to the X5d and it wouldn't come from the factory that way, they would have to do it once the car arrived. Is this how you did it? I'm new to the BMW family so I am confused.

Thanks!

I would suggest you get the Sport Activity package instead of the M Sport package if you want the silver/chrome trim on the outside. they are now very similar packages, the M Sport just changes the front and rear bumpers a little and adds the black trim. Go with the Sport Activity package (if on 35i, you still get 19" wheels) saves you $1250 and you get the silver trim you want...

I really wouldn't say "just". There are a number of additional features included in the M Sport, albeit primarily asthetic. But if the silver roof rails are the OP's primary desire, then I would concur.

well both the sport activity and M Sport come with 19" wheels now (and you know the cost is the same to BMW for those, I wouldn't call the M wheels an upgrade), both have anthracite headliner, both have thicker steering wheels (I think the M is a little different but not sure how), when you break it down it really is the bumpers that are different for $1250 more, I don't think that black trim costs more than the silver either. I ordered the M sport myself because I like the bumper change and black look, just saying you aren't getting a different suspension or other mechanical changes or different seats... oh wait, we do get some M logos though

True, the '12 changes seem to have closed the gap some. And since my primary reason for wanting the M Sport was for the exterior upgrade, I'm content.

Oh, and there is the M Sport's secret flux capacitor, that just ZSP doesn't get.....

Beautiful cars! I've decided that I prefer the larger 19" wheels, I wish they would come with the msport 28i!
