What Kind of Fuel Economy Are You Seeing So Far?
I picked up my 35i yesterday and so far I'm seeing (in almost exclusively city driving) about 13.5l/100km (ya, I know canadian style )
That's over about the first 100 kms, going very easy during break in period. My 2010 335i RWD that I traded in on this got around 16l/100kms which was pretty brutal. Almost all city driving though and I pushed it pretty hard and drove mostly in sport transmission mode. What are you guys seeing so far? PS-what ticks me off about buying a unit off the lot rather than a custom delivery is that you just KNOW that it's been redlined in the first 100kms probably (mine had 100kms on it at time of delivery), which has got to be a bad thing. I reset the consumption stats when I took delivery however. |

You are way too soon to be concerned over fuel economy. BMW engines take several thou KMs before settling into meaningful fuel numbers.
But, since you mention it, mine has just under 1100kms on it (all mine) and I have averaged 11.7L/100 to date. Mostly unban with maybe 250 kms hiway. As to your 100kms, it could have been accumulated just moving the car around if it has been a while since it was built. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I bought an M3 with over 200kms on it, and if any car got driven hard, it would have been that one, No problems. You have full warrantly regardless.

Averaging around 24 MPG so far (~1600 miles). That will improve a bit as it breaks in better. I'm getting my break-in oil change soon, that might help a wee bit too.
Most important things: avoid jackrabbit starts, and keep your tire pressure up.

Sweet, so it looks like the x3 will get a fair bit better mileage than my 2010 335i. It's seems so unbelievable that the 35i and 28i would get roughly the same mileage, but I guess that's not turning out to be BS after all.

I have no idea what is the average fuel consumption, but coming from a 2008 Infiniti G35x, the X3 35i is a lot more fuel efficient. On average, I had to fuel my G35x every 4 days (mixed driving). Now with the X3 35i, i only fueled up 3 times but so far, only needed to fuel it every 7 days (mixed driving). I am very impressed with the fuel consumption of my X3!!!
As well, the G35x gas tank was a lot bigger too at 76L as opposed to the X3's 68L!!! Yet one tank of gas with the X3 lasts a lot longer than that of the G35x!!! |

I did a drive from Cincinnati to Chicago last week and averaged 25 for the 320 mile trip. I've got about 3,200 miles on my 35i. I averaged about 78 mph.

Also remember that US owners will likely be quoting using the smaller US gallon vs the Imperial gallon. So, fuel economy calcs using the Imp gal. will be even better.

I've got 1900Kms on my 35i right now, and I do a fair amount of highway driving @ 120Km/h with 500lbs of cargo.
So far I'm averaging 8.9L / 100Km on the highway, and around 11L / 100Km in the city. |

Just under 21 MPG with 2200 miles 90% city driving. The 2007 335 I had before got about 19 city. I drive in Normal mode almost all the time, but suspect you will give up a couple MPG if you use Sport Mode. Need a road trip to see what I can get on the highway.

Ok LedZep, every time my wife thinks I'm nuts, I'm going to show her your stuff.
I want to know where your standard deviation and correlation coefficients are for your figures vs. the car's mpg. |

I didn't capture the "entire" spreadsheet, as I figured some of it would be boring, but since you asked... (you want to see my tire tread depth tracking chart?)
