I don't know what 11.5 MPG is in the UK...but I'm sure there's a unit converter somewhere on the internet.

As far as being "thrown," I simply mean that I'm so very bewildered as if someone has picked me up and thrown me over a large distance, disorienting me upon landing. It means the same as saying that something "came out of left field."

US mpg to imperial mpg is x1.2 => 14mpg which is slightly worse than the advertised figures for a Rolls-Royce Phantom!!

Not sure why the confusion over being thrown but I enjoyed reading your description

If my V8 twin turbo gave those terrible fuel figures, I would not have bought it, it has been consistently 26/28 UK MPG over 7000 miles. It is running over 400 BHP too.
Thats 27/ 1.2 = 22.5 US MPG

Had 40 mpg on our 1st run to Ediburgh. Returned from Edinburgh with a 1200kg caravan, and still got 35! Much more than the Disco 3, that used to be 20mpg. We've done a total of 700miles so far. Getting the winter wheels fitted this Sat.

Nice, good results on MPG.
I have gone for Dunlop winter sport 3D Run-flats 245/45/18 on spare rims.

Question - I'm sure that you have, but I have to ask... Have you reset the Avg. MPG (and Avg. Speed) by pressing and holding the Computer Info button on the Turn Signal stalk? (Alternatively, you can go into Vehicle Info, Onboard Info, Cons. and reset it.) If not, you're displaying MPG from Day 1 (or the last time it was reset).

When I do, it usually levels off to a meager 14.1-15.2 after a week or two. But after a month or so of vigorous acceleration and manual mode shifting, it goes back down to 11.1-12.4. I think, though, my MPG is consistently lower than the first F25 35i I had (which had the 18" 308s), because of the wider staggered 19" 309s and the fact that I lowered the tire pressure to the lowest recommended psi (31F 35R); too much friction, but the ride is just too jarring in SPORT chassis mode if the pressure is any higher. At least I got the wheel/tire insurance so I never have to pay to replace a wheel or tire.

Managed over 50mpg today over an 80 mile run along the M4 in traffic. Average was only 61mph but still pleased!

Did my super-efficient run (205 miles of motorway late in the evening) last week in strong winds and my MPG dropped from a previous best of 52mpg down to 38mpg. The roads were empty, I drove conservatively but still a significant drop.

My first long distance trip averaged over 23 mpg US but now I'm seeing about 15 - 17 mpg with my mostly short commute to work on city streets. I haven't done much highway driving lately, plus I'm driving more aggressively and using sport mode more. My take is that even though the EPA mileage ratings are decent for the 35i and you can get pretty good gas mileage if you drive in normal mode and drive conservatively, if you push your 35i and especially drive more surface streets, your mileage will drop significanlty. I should mention that I only have 4200 mi on the car so I'm hoping my mileage will go up.
