Any problems with your AC ? Like floor mats getting WET ?

Hi everyone

I just went on a road trip for a few hours for the first time with the X3, and found out that the driver side AND the passenger side floor mats were soaking wet, on the side that was touching the middle side of the cabin (the transmission ?)

Is it because of condensation of the AC ? It would be the first time I'd have such a problem with all my AC cars...

What about you guys ? Do you have wet carpets if you drive for 1 hour or so with AC on, cold ?

Only if I take the twisties a bit too fast and . . . well, you know . . .

+1 on Lotus re the condensation. Wouldn't have known the details he has by any stretch, but was thinking the same direction. Pain in the butt still, but I'm hoping you have an easy dealer fix on your hands.

Went to the dealer today...

They couldn't find the problem within 1 hour, so I get a 2nd appointment in... 2 weeks. I'll leave the car there for 24h or so.

It seems that it takes a few hours to remove the dash to get to the AC ducts... Really ??

That's a bummer! Did they at least have any clue as to what the problem might be?

You're not gonna believe this. My replacement X3, not my original, but my second X3 in less than a year has the exact same problem as "northx3."

I'm so pissed.

You're not allowed to drive pissed in the UK. Completely legal in the US....

Sorry Judd but sometimes if you don't laugh....

Good luck! Hope it's an easy fix

That's really not good! The dealer is going to have to play very nice with you to make this right.

It is better in my "for keeps" than it was in the loaner. Feels like it should in this one!

I just hope I'm right about the drainage tube. It's migrated to the passenger side only now. What else could it be?

Bite your tongue
I have zero confidence in the Perillo service department. After they continuously lied about having remedied the problems before, I have little faith in them.

Is there another dealer you can take it to for service without having to go out of you way to much? Seems like with you being in Chicago, you should have a lot of dealers within a half hour or less.

Well the problem is that it's too convenient to have the dealership just 15 minutes from home. I trust the customer service and sales staff enough to keep coming back. Besides, whenever the service department tries to pull something shady or half-assed, the management is on my side. They always give me nice loaners and they gave me a tremendous deal on both X3s (plus the free extra options the second time around). It's just annoying because I don't have patience for people who work in the service industry and think they can outsmart the consumer; there's a reason why I don't find myself in coveralls doused in motor oil and sweat. You can imagine my fleeting trust for anyone who should be responsible for handling my car, so I may as well stay where at least I can expect disaster--that way it's far more predictable.

My plan is to take my wife's car to Fields in Northfield for service. It's 40 minutes away but at least we have friends close by. Perillo's service department does not inspire confidence. Let's just say they wouldn't have brought Apollo XIII home...
