Strange Issue of my X3

My 2011 X3 28i has a strange issue. Almost every morning when the engine oil temperate of the car reaches around 100 degrees, steams come out from the front. This will last for a minute or two and only happens in the morning. Dealer has checked and say nothing is wrong and no fluid leaks.

Just try to see if anyone have the same issue.

Record a video of it and post it on YouTube and embed the link because it sounds like you are making things up.

Why don't you open the hood to see where the steam is coming from?

I wasn't sure if he was referring to the rear of the vehicle, possibly the exhaust.

I see that from time to time, only in the winter, only when I stop at a traffic light, and before the engine is up to full operating temperature. I've never figured out exactly what it is, but it's not a coolant leak. I've speculated that it's external moisture that's being turned to steam as the engine and radiator heat up, but I've never taken the time to investigate.

I haven't had to add coolant since my expansion tank was replaced, so it is definitely not a coolant leak.

The hottest thing when warming up is the turbo manifold, and cat. So if it happens at the first traffic light, it’s probably coming from there first and not the whole engine block or radiator.

Park it in a garage and see if it happens that morning . It might just be moisture burning off during the colder temps.

Had the same issue. I also only saw the steam when stopped at a traffic light. Turns out a coolant hose (small thin one coming from the plastic reservoir) had a slight leak when hot. It would leak by the radiator. Coolant would seep out and vaporize causing what looked like steam coming out of front grill. A quick check would be to look at the hoses by the radiator. If they are discolored that might be it. You can clean your coolant hoses, drive for a few days and see what happens. Almost 100% sure that is your issue. It never dripped when cold or was obvious if you weren't looking for it so I'm not surprised dealer didn't see anything.
