You will need a lift by minimum I had no idea how easy or hard this was going to be but when I saw the other X3 35i did it I asked him to give me as much info/detail as possible.
I'm sure my local shop can prob start making Modified Intercoolers if there's enough interest

I had to fab brackets to do mine. I ended up using 3/4" square aluminum tubing both to position the IC that much lower for fitment, as well as drilling it for holes for fasteners. Simple, but solid.

What about the plastic bottom plate with rubber seal that pushes up against the stock intercooler? Did you cut it and reattach it farther forward? Thanks. |

I had to hack up the rubber seal a fair amount, mostly at the sides where the end tanks are. I overdid it a little just to get the damn thing to squeeze in there. It made pretty good contact, but I resealed it all with 3M Blue plastic exterior duct/paint tape to ensure good air flow. It's my favorite new tape. BTW, my Phoenix intercooler, while virtually identical, is just okay in terms of performance. Far better than stock, of course, but it still tracks 10* to 20* over ambient and will climb 30* to 40* over a long, hard pull to 120 or 130mph. It cools down pretty quickly, fortunately, but I imagine I'll be spraying meth at some point to compensate. If I had to purchase again, I'd get an ER Competition, I think.

So are you running a BM3? I took a good look at these new FTP Motorsports boost and charge pipes I have and I'm really concerned about the boost pipe. The stock one has rubber bellows for flexing and the FTP one does not. The only flex point would be the silicone coupler at the turbo which is basically nothing. The factory put those bellows in there for a reason so I may just put the charge pipe on. |

But the Phoenix, VRSF, Wagner, Active Autowerke, etc all look exactly the same as the CTS Turbo as if they are all knockoffs from China. Are they not?

I have been following this post to understand what FMIC would fit my 2013 X3 msport n55 engine. My local shop just fitted the Pheonix FMIC from BMS along with the F25 specific FTP charge pipe and boost pipes.
As well as the FMIC needing custom mounts and sitting a little lower the driver side 3 inch silicon coupling that came with the FTP pipes needed to be upgraded to a 6 inch coupling due to the extra distance to the lower FMIC. So far so good. The torque seems to come in earlier and I no longer have that flat spot around 2700 rpm or that droning exhaust noise from the high flow muffler. |

I've got the 3/4" square tubing that hardparker advised about. Hardparker did you have to use a longer coupling to connect the charge pipe? |

I have based my opinion on plenty of logs from various friends on street and dyno.

You just had issue with the underneath plastic right? From staring a good bit at my stock intercooler installed through front bumper the left/right rubber seal/lips, it looks like the 'lips' will just have to be folded back a little but no cutting. Is that what you found? I second FSociety on the front pics request! |

However they still prefer sending in and unlocking right? Or should I wait to see what PTF comes up with unlocking via OBD? |

Once they release their OBD2 w/o needing to Bench you can decide which option will work best. I'm sure Bench Flash will have its Pros, are you under warranty? What car? Year? Location and Octane?
