One could be - wind noise coupled with hearing traffic driving past, ie noise is getting past the door seals.

The others are door lock rattle and re-fitted seat cover is still naff.

Really I don't think that'll be necessary. The 35i does it and so do the 35d and 30d. I've had other BMW turbos that do this as well. It's not a problem with YOUR X3 or any X3 at all. It's really just the turbo spooling under hard acceleration.

If it is that's sort of ok. It's not a pleasant sound though. My 335i certainly did not do it, nor did other petrol turbos from 80 and 90's which are older tech. My 335i must have been similar to the X3 35i - no unpleasant sounds, apart from at idle. With a passenger in the car it's kind of embarrassing, ie what sort of crap is this?

Mine does NOT make noises full stop. I had the X6 35D and the 635D Sport, they made no noises either, thats 3 new BMW Diesels. None of which made undue hissing or turbo wining ever.

Some interesting factoids on the N57 in this attached pdf. It's in German, but data is universal anyway ...

Yip, 30d has 1800bar.

Good doc, I wish I could understand more of it!

BTW, the noise now seems to have gone. It only happened the first few times I totally floored it, maybe it was transmission related but whatever, it's now gone as far as I can tell. Trying to make it happen has left me with a consumption reading on 23 mpg.

I have started to "Boot mine" and it now gives 36/37 MPG constant if I cruise things get better BUT who does for long.

The wheels look fab, even better than your summer 19's!!!!

I've only been doing short trips on this tank, so with my booting it and the engine not being warm for long, economy has suffered. Have no concern, I didn't boot it with a cold engine.

I did mixed Booted and cruising today 80 miles 38MPG from cold, thats good as it was the Journey computer which I have set to "reset every time".
Outside temp 7.5 deg centigrade, thats cold.

I currently get 35 mpg (Imperial), doing mostly city traffic and some 100+ mph autobahn. It's around 0 deg Celsius most of the time.

Noise canceling technologies and innovations are included in higher-market cars along the lineup. An X6 and 6-series are on the upper end of the premium spectrum, and the engines are designed and fitted with greater refinement. For example, the 535i spools much more quietly than the X3 35i. Exhaust note and engine note are more refined on the 5 than on the X3. Same with the X5. The X5 35i is a tad quieter when spooling up than the X3 35i.

My 35D must be in this category then.
