how to get status code of x3 build? (automated 800 numbers just tells me in producti)
i called the 1-800 number and it just tells me it is in production with a expected completion date of 7/11. How do i get the actual build status code that I've heard others talk about? do i need to speak to a rep? Or should it be in the automated message and my build isnt far enough along to have a status code?
Also, is it strange that my estimated completion date is 2 weeks from now? I thought the build should only take ~40 hours. |

Having just gone through this with my X3 here is what I observed. When the 800 number says the car is in production with an estimated completion date of xx/xx/xxxx, they really mean the car is scheduled for production. About two days before the given completion date, or a little sooner if you are lucky, the car will enter the body shop, then the paint shop, then final assembly. In other words it will enter production. The actual production takes about 2 days as you pointed out.
I'm not sure why they do it this way but at least in my case the car finished a day ahead of the original estimated date. Lou |

Sorry, I don't know how to get the codes either because I was calling the 800# on a daily basis and Voerman has it about right.
Last Thursday when I called, it said my car was in production and scheduled for completion on June 26. I called this morning and it said it was in the paint shop with a scheduled completion date of today. I connected to the customer rep just to ask about whether the paint shop was a step in the process or if something went wrong with the build and it needed to be touched up and she said that it's part of the build process and that my car was actually finished!

thanks for the info guys. good to know that when it actually starts doing something, that information will be reported in the 1-800 message.
is it too late to change options? I keep going back and forth on whether i should get nav, given that i was forced to get the BMW assist (which I can't even use) because of presumably shortages, when I can add the Nav and get BMW assist at no charge. |

I have been checking and really getting no good infomation from the 800. My CA from the dealer stated that the 800 system is updated slowly and randomly. The dealers have more 'real time' access to the status... for what its worth...
Once the car goes into production, status 111 or 112 there are no changes you are stuck with what options you ordered. |

Folks, the reality is that the 800 number isn't up-to-date, and the web-page info is not up to date. On top of that, the phone-in and web-page disagree more often than not. Dealer may have a better shot at status accuracy, but the only thing that is guaranteed is that when you get the call that it's at the dealership, it's probably there.
Not that you have to, but if you do a search on this topic, you can see that it's been discussed before, and I kind of doubt that BMW is going to "fix" it anytime soon.

Don't think the 4th has anything to do with it. Mine started production Saturday and it's completion date is June 30th. You are the first person to report a two week time frame once the production has started. Maybe it is just an error in their system. Bet it'll be done a week before that if not the same day mine is.

Smart man. Called again this morning and it is now updated to July 1st even though it still just says in production on the 1-800 number. |
