Dont wait for it, the demand for X3 performance anything is so lacking that they do not care for us.
Get a simple stage1 tune and you will get more bang for your bucks

I'd say look at a good box like a Steinbauer, Hartge or Ac Schnitzer which adjust the fuel and boost, unlike something like a Racechip which is a universal box with different connectors for different makes. The brands mentioned above actually have a specific tune for the engine/car the box is supplied for. Honestly, I find the BMW Power kits are the best, I have one on my 320d, and having seen cars with all kinds of boxes/remaps the power kit is the best by far. In terms of overall power or speed, some of the boxes/maps may be as quick, but with the powerkit due to the additional hardware the refinement of the engine goes up and the way the power is delivered is very smooth. So it doesn't feel like a tuned engine, but like a more powerful stock engine. |

For what the money is worth racechip has settings that is smooth (the first 3-4) then has faster more aggressive settings that would make sense for those with mods. Check out the f15 x5 35d folks that have it by the way. |

Over here, I think the conditions are far more harsh on the cars than in the US or Europe. And I've seen a handful of cars which have had fuel injector and common rail issues with racechips installed (diesels). Similarly cars with boxes which connect to each injector individually, and even control the boost seem to have been much more reliable in the long term, aside from feeling much better to drive (MKB, Brabus in terms of Merc, and MTM or similar for Audis). From whatever little knowledge I have, I believe having a specific map/box tuned for your vehicle and engine combination is going to be better than having a universal box which alters signals by a set percentage no matter what the car whether the percentage is adjustable or not. Again this is just my opinion, and I wouldn't buy anything but a Steinbauer/Hartge/Ac Schnitzer (who apparently use Steinbauer boxes as their base) for my X3. |
