Can you turn the security system off temporarily?

For all those pet owners out there. We noticed the other day that we can't leave our dog inside the truck without the alarm going off.

Is there a way to temporarily disable the alarm while still locking the vehicile?

This works on the old X3 and I can't imagine this is gone in the new one...
If you press the lock button on the remote a second time after locking your car, the internal sensor is disabled. You will get a few seconds confirmation from the red light on the mirror.

It does work on this one, too, at least in my US model.

+1 Correct. If you press the lock button a second time, the interior motion detectors and the vehicle level detector (that would sound if someone tried to jack the vehicle to steal a wheel) will be shut off. This is useful if you are leaving a child or pet in the car, traveling on a ferry, etc. However, the alarm for the door locks will remain engaged.

Yes that definitely works - although with the alarm going off, it looks like the X3 is as excited to see you as the dogs inside are The dogs love going for rides in the X3

yes, press the lock button twice and it will turn the security system off. I travel with my Goldendoodle and would make short coffee breaks.

Thanks this is useful although I guess we have been lucky as our dog has never set off the alarm. He does just lie still and mostly sleep in the car.
