iPod and iPhone Playback Bluetooth Capability

Is there a way to play your ipod touch wirelessly via the car's audio system? How about the iPhone?

Yes to both. Just pair the device when on the Bluetooth settings screen on iDrive and then it will appear as an external device under Music. Once selected it will stream audio via Bluetooth. Search for stream bluetooth for more info

Should work for any app with sound. I've tested it with FStream which is Internet radio and it works

It works with pandora radio, so I agree with sfax that it should work.

I can't get it to work. I can get my phone to connect to make calls via Bluetooth but can't stream radio. What's the trick?

How about for the iPod touch? I turned on the Bluetooth but no luch. It just keeps searching.

After you have paired the phone…go to the main menu and choose cd/multimedia, then choose external device and your phone and music should show up - I always have it on ipod function before I turn on the bluetooth audio.

For BT streaming, all cables aren't really relevant (other than to charge the device). In fact if you plug in the device using a USB you will remove the Bluetooth streaming link. All you should need to do is....

1. Unpair the device so the car knows nothing about it and vice versa
2. Go to iDrive - Bluetooth settings screen where you can look at all paired devices (and devices that were paired)
3. Leave iDrive on this screen. - IMPORTANT!- Mine doesn't work unless i do this
4. Go to Bluetooth pairing on your device and search for the BMW
5. Pair it and enter a PIN
6. When it says paired successfully, start the app or iPod or whatever on the device
7. Go to Music - External Devices and it should now appear there as an option.
7. Select it and iDrive should switch to output the streamed audio from the device.
