Interesting. It must have been a co-ordinated thing for BMW to run April Fools jokes in several places around the world. Here in Australia it was an annoucement of the removal of a unpopular Goverment tax for BMWs (the LCT for those Aussies).

BMW has done this every year in the UK for as long as I can remember, at least 20 years. My favourite was the automatic dog urination repellent. They aren't as funny as they used to be.

How true
Americans don't really have a sense of humor unless it's spoon fed to them with neon signs that tell then when to laugh. And they have no comprehension of irony or self-deprecating humor whatsoever.

The ad was great. Sort of conflicted, though -- as fantastic as the product is, I think I could use something like that!!

OT - olympic logo
Is that logo in the bottom right of the ad the real logo for the London Games?
It looks like they designed a nice logo and then somebody accidentally dropped it just before the photographer turned up, swept the pieces into a pile and tried to bluff their way out of it. PS: I liked the line "Its a car Gym, but not as we know it"
