X drive characteristics

Hi

Fairly new to the X drive / all wheel drive concept and am looking for some clarification / advise.

When I get the car up to around 50 - 60mph I get a noticeable whirring sound from the rear of the car and not sure if it is a wheel bearing / drive shaft carrier bearing or rear diff / transfer box.

So had the car up on a lift and ran the car at tickover to get the wheels to rotate etc and could not hear anything strange from either of the rear hums but what I did notice was that the front wheels were rotating fine together with the rear Left hand wheel but the rear right hand wheel was not rotating at all and would only rotate if I stopped the left one spinning - is this normal or do I have a problem in the rear diff.

Car is a 2012 2.0D with the N47 engine with 53,000 miles

Many Thanks
