Maybe a salvage yard has a totaled M40i?
Or on ebay. I could easily find supra front brakes with rotors for around 1k ($1500 for complete fr/rr set). That is exactly the same as the M40i brakes - except for the supra badge.

I see ebay is running 15% off on select items with coupon code febsale24. Check them out.

Im thinking to just putting drill rotors on my 30I when I redo the brakes. Looks better without increased cost of totally switching all front brake parts.

Interesting reading. For normal use, it may just mean replacing pads more frequently.

thanks Sportstick for the article. I like the looks because they were on my ML Mercedes. I dont push my car and currently have 42,000 miles on car and just had dealer inspection saying everything still in green. But a good article.

Interested in your info. Are you saying this is an exact remove and replace. If so what year Supra fits the X3.

Yes, the a91/premium trim - whichever comes with the fixed caliper from the factory (it only has 2 options, just like on the x3).

X3M/C gets M Compound brakes with cross-drilled 395mm front & 375mm rear rotors, and blue/black/red 6-pot calipers

X3 M40i gets M Sport brakes with flat (non-drilled) 348mm front & 345mm rear rotors, and blue/red 4-pot calipers

one other question. I wonder if the standard 19 inch X3 rims will accommodate the Supra brakes. thanks

Sure does! BMW has a 19" wheel option for the M40i which, needless to say, has m sport brakes.

Case in point is my M40i that originally came with 19" from the factory.

Can't speak for aftermarket wheels though, unless it's made to fit the x3.

If you're going aftermarket and want to go for a higher profile tire, 18 inch aftermarket rims fit on the X3 M40i with no problem.
