2013 X3 --- OSB Codes
Hey all,
New here ---- Looking for help. I went to Auto Zone after my 2013 BMW X3 has check engine light. It went into chassiss stabilaztion mode -- I took for full oil change at Mavis. Then to AutoZone for the OSB codes.... The CHeck Egngine light is still on but it seems fine (for now) no safey mode entered but the codes are P16E7 and 4809AB Why is there no info anywhere on the codes, causes, and fixes.>> thanks rich t. |

You may not be finding any information if you are using OSB. I don’t know what that stands for…but the check engine light gets illuminated when a default in an OBD II sensor detects a fault TWICE.
The OBD II federal mandate started in 1996 for the US market…so for the 5 digit “p” code you gave us…you should be able to simply google “BMW OBD II P16E7” to get some info about that DTC (diagnostic trouble code). Again, if you were searching using OSB…that may have been the issue not finding anything. EDIT: You can use the link to find information about the generic P code you listed…as well as the 6 digit BMW HEX code you listed: https://bmwfault.codes/ See info in 3rd & 4th bullet in info below about the Check Engine Light and the debut of the federal OBD II mandate in the US market:

thanks for the reply --- I obvy ment OBD II --- brain freeze.
thanks starting looking it up -- this may take too long for someone like me to try to solve two codes... it seems like there are too many variables to determine.... |
