35i performance upgrade??

Did anyone upgrade their power on the 35i? I'm looking for more power/torque and would like to know what is available currently.

Ones that I know of:
PP Performance
Kellener Sport

Add Hartge and Dinan to your list. In my opinion Dinan would be the way to go, but do your own research.

I think Burger is the best bang for the buck

$379 for 50hp/60tq

I wonder who has the best gains.

Burger was supposed to be working on a stage II but I'm not sure about the status of that project.

I think one of the Euro tuners was claiming 410hp with their chip.

It is not all about gains. I am leaning towards Dinan for their factory warranty matching.

I didn't know Dinan offered any engine performance upgrades for the F25. Their website mentions nothing.

I know Dinan is working on the F25 along with the F10 but last I heard they were having issues getting the computer to respond. It is now delayed indefinitely.

I also heard Burger is working on a stage 2 but they were trying to get a donor car for testing. Not sure if they are in the process of getting it done.

I agree this is the best approach, IMHO.

What I would like to know is are these numbers these companies are putting out actually proven on a dyno etc. I would certainly be interested in a performance upgrade also.

From my understanding fewer and fewer dealers are honoring the Dinan warranty.
If I had an issue I would probably just remove the performance chip/harness.

If there is enough interest on the board maybe we can find an upgrade we can all agree on and see if we can get a group rate.

I am most interested in the Burger Stage II (if/when it comes out).

Burger sells a SCAN Tool that can clear codes and erase any data concerning the tune. As well the Burger tune is easy to install and re-install.

Their N20 tune does like nice and Im strongly considering it.

According to Burger's website it doesn't look like they will develop a stage 2.

Recently Installed JB Stage 1 in X3

I just installed JB Stage 1 for my X3 35i over the weekend, so far just on standard boost of 3.5 above stock, some appear to have success closer to 4-4.5 with 93 octane. So far only good things to report, gas mileage appears to be in same ballbark as before, power is much improved over stock particularly in sport mode. Pulls much harder from a stop as well. For the money, its a worthy hour project, probably 20 minutes after its been done once. I will say the instructutions don't really match the reality of the new X3. The 3rd sensor (MAF) I believe is connected to airtube instead of sitting on top of engine cover as described, so you have to take off tube and cover to get to and then there is no plastic box to put the JB into once you are done so you've got to secure it yourself. Pretty easy work arounds, but just an FYI for would be installers. Take off airbox and the job is I'd say a 3/10 in terms of ease of install; 1 being easiest.

No problem, I bought the usb cable, so I'm going to bump it up to 4 or 4.5 and report back in a couple of weeks to see if any bugs pop up or if I feel any difference in power, I always put 93 octane in and it seems that if the standard 3.5 is good for 91, then a slight boost increase may be ok with 93; we'll see.

Cool, I'd be interested in how that works out. Hey my last car was also an '08 135i in SGM. You have great taste.

I just emailed him a couple days ago asking about the stage 2 and he said he wants to do it and is still planning on doing it, but he does still need a donor car in California and can't really do anything until he finds one.

Update on Stage 1 JB

Wanted to provide update after a few weeks of driving with JB set at 4.5. No bugs or issues to report. It is a very quick car now, the change from standard 3.5 to 4.5 seemed to give a mild increase, but nothing dramatic. But overall the change from stock is very significant. Previous car was a stage 1 cobb 135i. I'd say 0-50 or so they would be very similar because of the all wheel drive whereas the 135i had massive traction problems. Highway speeds the tuned 135i was much faster. Because the JB doesn't really have any failsafes that I'm aware and its getting colder, I always leave it in comfort drive rather than sport mode or sport + until it is warmed up, as to not get too much boost from the sensitive throttle when engine is still cold.

Overall happy with the product, I still have my Cobb accessport, so if they ever get around to X3 flash I'll certainly give that a shot and compare.
