Connected Drive OFFICE and Phones?

Ok, I have stumped the BMW Genus so going to ask here.

I have 2016 BMW X3 (USA Model). It has all the connected Drive features.

My wife's phone HTC ONE on Verizon works great getting the SMS and email to display in OFFICE. My Samsung Galaxy S4 on AT&T only shows SMS messages. Ok, I get it. My phone doesn't do it according to BMW.

So I try to use the Connected APPs for hotmail and Gmail. Every time I try to log in, it says login failed.

Anyone figured out how to connect your GMAIL and HOTMAIL to the Connected Drive APPs. The Genus don't know how.

Does anyone have a new Goggle Nexus 6P that works with both email and SMS in OFFICE? Might get one if it works. BMW does not know if it does.

Which version? I would like a Google Nexus so I get the latest builds. Anyone have a 5X or 6P and get both email and text?

Google Nexus 5X

I tried my son's 5X and only got SMS messages.

Seems that any android phone with 5+ version of Android does not work with email. Too bad. BMW needs to stop using MAP protocol and do it another way.

Actually I'm running 5.1.1 and get my emails & texts. My son's GS 5 Note works for email/texts and my wife's SG4 works for texts - cars are 2015 X3, 2014 328 and 2016 235.

That is useful. I am interested in the Samsung Galaxy S7, but I bet with Marshmallow it will not get emails.

I wonder what the differences are?

I suspect a lack of MAP support on the older phones (Message Access Profile). It's what controls the delivery of mail and texts.

FYI I have a SG6 Edge

Interestingly, most android phones with 4.4 get both, but those upgraded to 5+ do not get email. BMW site not helpful, as they don't list the newest phones. Don't even list Google Nexus ones.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Works on Email Now

Just an update to my post. I did a factory reset on my Samsung Galaxy S4 due to a problem with wifi passwords. Now my emails and SMS messages show up on OFFICE in Connecteddrive. No changes to software version on the BMW.
