Rear transformation is complete

So after doing the front http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1231948, I tackled the rear.

I plasti dipped black the badge, and used light smoke tint on all the rear lights and reflectors.

Now all that's left is the side transformation (thinking of plasti dipping the wheels black), and the top, by putting black vinyl on the roof.

I am actively considering both H&R Sport springs and spacers... how do you like the ride on the H&R's? is it rough?

I love it. Totally worth it in my opinion if you like to push your car a little bit. Read my full review in my thread above. My opinion of them has not changed at all since then.

Very nice guys!
All I was able to do to my X3 was dip the grill and wheels but i loved the way they came out.
Except after 2yrs it seems the shop didn't put enough coats on the wheels so it was PITA to remove. I just traded it in for an X4 M40i

Great timing to chime in Rob. I'm actually looking at dipping my wheels gloss black or anthracite. I thought anthracite might be cool, as it'd be unique. Everyone has black... But I wonder if anthracite might be too hard to take care of, for chips. Any opinions on the colour?

The shop says they have two stages:

Stage 2, for a 20% premium, is different because we apply a topcoat that almost eliminates the peel-ability of Plasti Dip, making it the same as paint while adding a protective coating that is more durable (and can withstand more washing).

Stage 1 has a lifespan of around 1-2 years, Stage 2 almost indefinite like paint since it's not peel-able.

I wonder which I should go with...

why won't you just powdercoat them?

I thought about that actually, and called one well-known wheel place locally, who said they don't powdercoat, but instead paint, and it costs about double plasti dipping, so I passed. Plus, it seemed like a PITA to have to get the tires taken off, and remounted and balanced.

What's the difference between powdercoating and painting? I thought most people do the former with wheels.

Powder-coating is much better IMO (but you can't go back) I prefer this over painting
I did plasti-dipping because I can try it and remove it when I wanted to sell the car while it gave me the looks and protected the original paint

Just go buy a set off eBay ... Saves time and you can change it out when you want
