Please help me to choose winter set of wheels for my F25 X3

I'd like to have 17" wheels for winter. Here are my choices:

BBS CF Brilliant silver

OZ Vittoria

OEM BMW styling 305

It's difficult to make right decision.

The bbs or bmw ones for me. Just can't bide with black wheels.

I'm sticking my 3series msport 18" wheels on mine (with new rubber) in a few weeks. Cash dictates I'm afraid. Ill post pics in due course.

I would go for the BBS. Looks bigger that the BMW 305's and I'm already a bit tired of them. Got them myself and so does everybody else.

But If I could choose over, I would go for the BMW 308's for my winter setup. Much better look and finish than the 305's and they are 18"

My only doubt about BBS is ET. Stock 17x7,5 et 32 and BBS are same size but et is 35, will they fit?

Personally I would go for the BBS or BMW.

I have chosen the BMW wheels myself also 17" but the style 305 for the winter set up.

I just had these 309s 19" with Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D RSC 245/45R19 102V XL put on yesterday.

The reviews are real good but personally as I've had them for just one day and in good weather, I obviously cannot say too much except they ride nicely and are not too noisy.

I have the pressure set at 35 lbs (2.4 bar) in the front, and 40 lbs (2.8 bar) in the back. What are people's experience with tire pressure for this size wheel/winter tire?

Sorry about the pictures: iphone and no glasses.

Inflation?

I'd suggest going with what's in the manual for the car given the wheel/tire size. In my case I went with the 18" 307 rims and sottozero bmw package and inflated to 32/35 f/r.

Thanks - yes, I did mean "pressure" I do have them set pretty close to the upper recommend pressure (5 passengers etc.), but do you not feel that 32/35 gives you a mushy ride? I would also be worried about riding/wearing the sidewalls.

I add +0.2bar as well. Nice rims . Don't often see 309s on M Sports. Quite an expensive option for winters!

Believe it or not, the dealer gave them up for free as we got a car that was almost loaded. It did blow our minds

I jot got winter wheels about a week ago. I went with 18" Breyton GTS wheels and blizzaks. I haven't put them on yet because I am heading down south for the holidays so I will install them when I get back.

Well I noticed a softer ride and increased 'tramlining' with the winter tires set at the specified pressures.

I have 245/50/18 Dunlop Wintersport 3D ROF set at stock pressure... I don't find the ride mushy, but that could be because they're runflat.

We just got 30cm of snow here, so I was considering increasing the pressure a bit to get a better dig into the deep snow/slush, but stock pressure is probably a good compromise as it starts to get packed down into ice.

OP: I like the OEM

For winter, I opted for the kit recommended by BMW.

Wheels: OEM BMW styling 305 (17 ")
Tires: Pirelli Winter 210 Sottozero Serie II (RFT) 225/60R17

This is perfect !

Just installed BMW winter package wheels and tires - 18 inch 307 with 245/50/18 tires. Will give feedback once we drive in some snow.

Me too.

I notice a far bit more tramlining (sawing of steering wheel back and forth on rutted roads) and a much softer ride.

I'm also getting some vibration, don't know if the tires need to be balanced as the wheel/tire package came from the dealership mounted and balanced.

I have just put the 17" 305's on my White M-Sport. I normally have the 19"s on there and wasn't sure how they would look. But they're not too bad especially as they will be dirty a fair bit of the time.

Differences when driving are as expected a touch lighter feel to the steering, less road noise, slightly more more comfortable (but still solid) and I would imagine a touch less stability; however it's the traction I'm more interested in.

Quite happy for the 4 months I guess they will be on.

I would and I did go for the Y spoke 305. I have a Titanium silver M sport and did some picture modifications before i decided. The BBS was one of my favourites before the photoshopping. See attached two pictures and the final choise at delivery back in january this year. I thought the BBS looked a little thin out.

Why not just stick with stock 306 for winter tires?
