Fix car before selling?

So I will be selling/ trading in my '12 X3 soon and it had a few blemishes, lots of paint dings and one really bad deep scratch (down to black plastic) on the rear bumper. Would you guys fix it or try to trade in/sell as is? Kbb says the car is worth $30,500 in good condition, I would think people spending that want a clean looking car, but filling and painting the bumper won't be cheap and not sure it's worth it.

OK... two cars, one is clean and one comes with some scratches or dents. Same price... which one would you buy ?
Have it fixed at a cheap garage (not BMW!). A few years back some idiot put a dent in my car at a parkinglot. The offcial Renault dealer said it would cost me 750 euro. I went to a Polish guy, said I didn't need a bill, and he got rid of the dent and repainted it for 300, and the car looked like new again....

Depends, if you selling privately fix the dents, if trading get an estimate for fixing the dents from an independent garage and use it when negotiating the trading offer, dealers tend to have the resources to fix this at a lower price than you going private, hence you may factor a lower price for fixing your car with the dealer plus save time and hassle having to do it yourself

When I traded in my X3 last month, it was still CPO, and the dealer never visually inspected the car. If trading into a dealer I would say dont worry about it. The X5 I bought needed touch up and the dealer wasnt even aware of some of the marks until I pointed it out.

Try to see how much they give you for it first and see if it's worth the fix.

I would not worry about those scratches, especially if you are trading it into the dealer.

I dont think it will affect your value in a dealer trade in. If you are selling it privately, whoever buys it will probably try to use that as a bargaining chip to get a few hundred dollars better deal. If you have time, get a couple quotes and see which way makes more sense with the numbers.
