Gas stations in Canada
What gas station do your X3 like the best? Shell V, Esso better than others ? No difference? Not the Husky ethanol stuff though ?

I use Chevron almost all the time, if no Chevron (say in AB), I would use Shell VPower as second choice. Fortunately, Chevron is available in BC, Wash, OR, and (I think) Calif. Esso 91 OK if have to. Never Husky.

BMW's recommendation, in the US, is for Top Tier gasoline. If you check your owner's manual, it likely says the same in Canada. Top Tier gas stations in Canada are:
Chevron Canada Esso PetroCanada Shell Canada Sunoco Canada For those of us in the US, Top Tier brands include many that I have never heard of. The current list is: 76 Stations Aloha Petroleum Chevron Conoco CountryMark Entec Stations Exxon Holiday Stationstores, Inc. Kwik Trip / Kwik Star MFA Oil Co. Mileage Stations Mobil Phillips 66 Quik Trip Rebel Oil Road Ranger Severson Oil Shell Texaco The Somerset Refinery, Inc. Tri-Par Oil Co. U.S. Oil I refuel at Exxon/Mobil and Shell stations. I wish that Sunoco US were a TopTier participant, as I would get a small discount from a friend who owns a Sunoco station. Last edited by 02420X3; 09-06-2011 at 08:26 PM.. Reason: Oops! I somehow left out Shell Canada. Sorry! |

You missed Shell in the Cdn list of Top Tier gas. There are 5 in Canada. Sunoco is only available in central/eastern Canada. But Chevron is not available outside BC in Canada (AFAIK).

Shell I don't get discount. Coop has 3c off plus the royalty thing end of year. Esso 1.5c off. Costco has cheap gas but I only fill up my old Pathfinder there. Don't really go to Petro-Can and never go to Husky.

Oops! I did a cut-and-paste, so i don't know how I missed Shell. It's been corrected. Thanks for pointing out the error, and apologies to Shell Canada.

Given that i have a fundamental problem with food stock as a fuel source for cars and only one top tier station (shell) advertises no ethanol in vpower i use it
Of course i think all premium fuels are sans ethanol; but they dont advertise so i dont assume |

Isn't Sunoco out of the retail gasoline business in Ontario? Are the Sunoco stations not rebranded to PetroCan now?
