Drive thru car washes
Do you guys use the automatic touchless washes, or the wand wash? Curious if the soap they use would strip the wax. And if the 'spot free' or 'wax' they have would do any harm.
I the summer I can wash the car at the house. In the winter we either don't wash the car, or we wash it when it hit temperatures on the plus side. |

Have had good luck with the Shell touchless washes not stripping sealant. Have Bern afraid of the products in Th wand washes, bu have used them (on other cars) a couple times in the Winter.

I use the touchless carwash once each week. I do some maintenance myself (wheels today, effing BMW Brake Dust!), may do a personal detail next week, and plan to have a professional pre-winter detail done in early November.

I will use a touchless wash in the winter when I am unable to hand wash. I haven't had any problem with the soaps or other products they use stripping the wax, with the caveat that the high pressure spray itself will eventually wear it off.
It is really the only alternative to just allowing the winter grime to stay on the vehicle.

Unable to hand wash in the winter? Just use hot water and wear a woolly hat and a good pair of waterproof gloves

Sfax, in some places winter means sub zero like -20c. Try to open your doors after washing the car in minus 20. Some friends of mine told me a couple of stories from Scotland last winter, riped door gasket etc.

Can’t even run a hose in the winter or the pipes will burst in my house. Unless somebody is kind enough to let me park it in their living room and wash it there, a car wash is about the only option during winter time. |

Yes, it was a tongue-in-cheek comment for those who missed it. Hence the green grinning smiley. Never mind

I can't decide whether I prefer the idea that "cant" was intentional or accidental.

When going through a touchless make sure you don't select the "wax" feature as it causes the glossy black trim to get an oily look to it. Takes a lot of elbow grease to shine it back up.
