wait, floor mats not standard for 2012 afterall?

after posting in another thread on this board I decided to go to BMWs website to see what it said about the floor mats for the X3, and to my suprise it doesn't mention them anywhere under features/specs! According to the 2012 changes post by Jason, these were supposed to be standard, did BMW change their mind so they could pocket the $100 per vehicle?

My 2012 came with floor mats. I didn't ask for them. Pretty sure it's standard, at least for the 35i.

BMW has never provided floor mats. At least not in the years that I've been buying them. My dealer always includes them for us at no cost, as many dealers do.... but this is common.

i thought i wasnt' getting floormats - told my CA i wanted a set of the rubber floor mats which they added at cost (def cheaper than the list price) of course they put them in right over the carpeted mats that came from...somewhere

now i have 2 sets - i put the brand new carpetted mats on the shelf in my garage - i think the rubbers will be easier to keep things neat and clean. seems like carpeted mats wear out after a while

Even if not standard if you ask your CA for floor mats they'll usually oblige, or at least after being persistent enough they'll cave in and up-selling you how large of a favor they're doing you by giving you "free" mats.

Also, if possible ask for the floor liners instead of the rubber mats as they're much more formfitting than the regular ones and the rear mats also cover the transmission tunnel.

I'm sure I read somewhere that BMW finally decided to make floor mats standard on all models for 2012.

oh and the reason i thought I wasn't getting floormats - the 2 other dealers i was working with both wanted to charge me for them anyway as a line item - well 1 was 40 miles further away for the same deal, and the other was $3500 light on the trade in...

2008 328xi e91 wagon w/ 54k on it see my signature for the rest - good condition. besides being 3500 light on the trade in appraisal - they told me they would re-appraise it when my X3 came in. the dealer i ended up buying from w/ the higher trade in (which matched carmax) appraised the 328 when i put the deposit, and told me they would get the X3 built within a month and honor that appraisal....which was true.

The dealer i ended up buying from basically said we'll get the X3 within a month and the price will be honored - and they were right on both accounts.

its sitting on the CPO lot where I traded it in for a 32% markup.

its the first time i traded in a car that wasn't destined for an auction or a 3rd world country

The first thought that come to mind on reading your post was:

"Ride 'em hard, and hang 'em up wet"

I dont know why. My mind does strange things.

Same language, different country. We've been known to say "Rode hard, and put away wet".

Carpet floor mats are std spec in UK for all F25, but it could have changed for '12 models.

In that case, your mind and my mind must be bumping into each other constantly!

So... what is the consensus on this? Did those of you with 2012's get floor mats included without asking, and were they the carpeted or rubber mats?

My CA asked whether I'd want the carpeted or all-season floor mats. Went for the all-season (complimentary) for my 35i which I hope to be picking up next week (or the week after).

Mine came with mats.
The dealer did not make a fuss saying he provided them for free (like he did with the luggage), so perhaps they came with the car from the factory...

To answer my own question, we just picked up our new X3 and it was delivered with carpeted floor mats without any request. Now I'm off to order a set of floor liners.
