BMW 310m wheel authenticity question

Hello,

I am hoping someone here can help me out (I did a quick search in past threads however I could not find anyone who has posted my question).

I am looking to purchase a second hand set of 20" 310M wheels for my F25. I know there are a lot of knock-offs floating around in the market and am concerned I will fall prey to such a set.

I have been told these 310M wheels are real, and while I don't have reason to suspect the seller is lying, I also have no reason to believe he's telling me the truth.

He has provided me with the following info from one of the rims at my request:

5 787 582-13
Borbet bm197
Bmw is38
8 1/2Jx20EH2

My questions is, can I use any of this information to verify the authenticity of the rims?

Many thanks for any help,

Dave

In order:
Part Number
OEM Manufacturer (Borbet is well known)
Offset
Size

Make your own judgement, if you can use it to check the authenticity of the wheels.

Thanks for the info!

From the descriptors you provided, it would seem unlikely that I could use any of this info to verify the rims authenticity.

It the seller can't provide proof of purchase or demonstrate the origin of the wheels (i.e. they ordered them with their X3) then I would walk.

Part number for the front wheel looks correct to me.

So is there no easy way of telling apart a real from fake wheel?

Generally the BMW part number isn't stamped on a fake wheel, if it has 787 582 stamped on it, then I'd say your good.
