VIN decoding of the new X3
So, my car is waiting for a boat to head over the atlantic. All pumped up of course, I'm looking forward to tracking my car while on route from the states. So, in order to do that from the Wallenius Wilhelmsen website.
To my suprise, my dealer can only provide me with the final 7 digits of the vin, which is unique for my car. So, I'm left to my own to try and figure out the rest... So, if anyone could post the first 10 digits (don't need the last 7 of course) of a X3 vin I would be very happy. This is what I have so far. Apparently the US-made vehicles start with either 4US or 5US according to Wikipedia. However, on further investigation I find that the X6 have 5UX So I decided to stop and just come on here. Is there a difference in the VIN build up on European vs American cars? I know that there is one random check-number, but I figure trying all 10 doesnt take that long |

Your dealer knows the whole VIN. He's just not giving it to you for whatever reason. I would ask for if s little more forcibly. I knew my whole VIN before mine went into production
The start of mine is WBAWY320X0 But you should look on Wikipedia for a breakdown as part of yours will be different

Interesting, thanks. I thought (and read on some other forum) that the first 3 digits represented the plant. Thanks for clearing that up. Should have hacked my vin in no time
