Goodyear LS2 on all US-spec M-Sports?
So, I have been trying to determine the tires that people are seeing on their 19" M-sport rims here in the US. It appears a lot of the overseas customers are getting a variety of different summer tires on their M-sport rims, but all of the US versions are getting Eagle LS2s (US-spec cars come with all-seasons).
These tires do not seem to preform well based on a multitude of reviews on Tirerack...I am kind of disappointed that BMW would put these on their vehicles. But, looking at the available run flat tires in those sizes, they may not have much of an option. I've already started to research replacements, and the new General GMax AS-03s seem to be getting great reviews and are priced right. Also looking at Conti DWS.

I have a non M-sport 35i with 19's and they are the same Goodyear Eagle LS2's so maybe all the 19's are getting these.

Depends how much you like/want the rest of the MSport items (the body panels, the steering wheel, anthracite headliner, etc etc). I like the MSport pkg and would not skip it just to avoid the Goodyears. I can always change the tires, no big deal.

So, all Msports in NA are all seasons? Are they staggered?
If you order the non M-Sport 309s with the all season tires in NA, you get the Goodyear LS2s on 245/45/19's on all 4 corners. If you order the 309s with the summer tires you get the staggered set up and its either the Pirellis or the Contis. |

None in Canada are, and it's the same spec as the US MSport. The 309 wheels are staggered; but the MSport 369M wheels are not.

I won't get mine until tomorrow but looking at the tires on Tirerack the RFT versions do look a bit different than the non-RFT versions. Not sure that it will make a difference though.

Is there a way to have BMW fit the M Sports with summer performance tires at the factory instead of the all seasons? I definitely do not want all seasons which are not really good for anything!

So far, it seems that most M Sports in North America have the Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires. Mine does. So far, I have no complaints. I bought an X3, not an E92... I try to align my expectations accordingly. They might suck after some mileage, but for now they seem quiet and comfortable.
I doubt there is any one tire that is exclusive for any of the configurations. BMW will contract with a few manufacturers and rotate them based on price and availability. They've done this with Contis and Bridgestones on the E9x's for years. I've had five different brands of RFT's as OEM on BMW's and so far, I vastly prefer the Michelins, although some of the Contis are very good also. Bridgestone is by far the very worst.

Well, here is my situation, and it is probably different from you guys that are buying the X3....my X3 is a lease. This will be my third BMW lease, and as you may or may not know, at the end of the lease, the car must be turned in with RunFlats and a minimum tread depth. My plan is to purchase some Conti DWS or similar, run these on the car for the 36k, then put the RunFlats back on before turn in. This way, if a tire is damaged, I won't have to cough up $300+ for a replacement. Also, if the stock RunFlats wear out before 36k (which it seems they probably will), I would have to buy 4 @ $300+. I've done this on my previous 2 leases, and its worked out perfectly.
I know I lose the RunFlat capability, and we don't have a spare, so I buy the ContiComfort Kit and keep the BMW Roadside Assistance number handy...

Also, I just checked...I can't find any online tire retailer that carries the rear 275 Eagle LS-2 Runflat.

The North American M-Sports come with a square setup so all four tires are 245/45/19's. Why are you looking for 275's? Planning on changing to a staggered setup?

Nope, just had some sort of brain fart when I didn't see the 275's listed on TireRack or any of the other sites...I guess that is what I get for reading all these posts from people on the other side of the pond!

I'm picking up my vehicle this afternoon. I'm going to drive around on these tires until the fall at least and make a decision then if they are inadequate or not. I'm also leasing this vehicle so if they are horrible I'll just store them until I need to do the return and get some better tires. I won't limit myself to RFT's as I already have the M-Mobility kit from my existing vehicle for my non-RFT snows.
