Paint Protection - What's Your Take?

I have always poo-poo'd all the extra stuff a dealer tries to sell you during that emotional pick up day, but my wife has over the years and at regular intervals brought her CX-9 home with a magical new scratch in the paint...and this week a nice new one on the front fender. It's a touchy situation that I prefer to not to argue too much, although I never seem to attract them at the incredible rate she does (happy wife...something something).

I'm already acknowledging that the quality of the Mazda paint job is probably not the best, so taking that out of the equation, it brings me to the question - If you've done paint protection, what was the cost and how did it work out? Satisfied?
Thanks!

I did a paint protection on an old ford escort, it was pricey and i still feel the salesmans hand in my pocket 30 years later it looked waxed all the time but did nothing for love marks (aka scratches, rubs box pull offs - the "slider" scrape - or stone chips)

Now i have 3m film the better thick commercial grade on two cars - awesome, saved several chips already , 500 bucks installed will do bumper, hood, mirrors, window outside posts headlights and 6-8 inches of just above the window , this i'll do to every car going forward...

Can I ask where you had that all done for $500?? Sounds great! Much better than prices Ive found online for GTA locations that offer 3m.

+1! A friend of mine just bought a used Corvette and it already had the 3M protection on it, so he doesn't know how much it cost. It looks really good.

I had mine done direct (the same guy that does some of the high end dealerships). He charged me $1300 for full hood, both bumpers, mirrors, door edges, behind the door handles, gas flap, and both front quarter panels.

Very happy with the work and car looks new regardless of the harsh salt in the winter or the rocks coming off the highway. This is my 3rd time doing this and there is a really noticeable difference after a couple of years - the vehicles w/o film had lots of chips everywhere.

I got Supaguard exterior and interior thrown in on a used X3. Not sure I would pay the advertised price of £399+VAT from my own pocket. That said I have been impressed at how easy it is to clean, especially the wheels.

Go Xpel- far superior product to 3M. Might be a little more $$...but he fact that it has a clear coat and can be waxed is a major plus.

I've had Opticoat put on the X3. Has an always waxed look and super easy to maintain. Unfortunately, doesn't protect against dings, chips, and scratches.

I'd consider wraps if it was 100% wrapped for consistency's sake. It would drive me nuts to have it cut out mid panel or have the condition on one panel not match the rest of the car.

I did the CarPro - CQuartz Finest coating on the car and really like the way it repels water with the water bead formation. Most importantly, all the bird droppings are very very easy to remove and do not eat the paint at least till 6-8 hrs.
I also did 3 M paint protective film on mirrors and bumper corners to take car of love marks on the car.
Well repaint job at BMW is a costly affair. These things are peanuts compared to it.

Thanks all. I'm definitely going to do something...I don't think I'll be sorry, but if I didn't I'm sure I would be.
