Auto Leather Gator

Just noticed on Sabians pics that some X3's have a leather gator around the auto shift rather than the plastic trim I got!

Is it a UK/US thing or Diesel/Petrol?

I feel cheated

Thats the sport transmission for the 35i, note that the stick is different as well

I guess tetten was referring the the metal frame all around the stick in Sebian's car.

Ok I got in now (it was like one of those trick pics I couldnt see it until you pointed it out)

Leather gator looks million dollars compared to mine (now I got buyer remorse) its the little details that make it for me

This is crap, I was under the impression this would always come in leather??! :-(

Do we know when it is in plastic and when with Leather? I have the 30d ordered, hope it comes with the leather

I would guess (only a guess) that you would need to order the VDC? Although cant see it on the Uk config

I also have leather instead of plastic around the transmission. I guess its either US, 35i/30d, or sport transmission only. Also whats VDC?

VDC = Variable Damper Control

It is the suspension switch (sport/normal switch in sabians photo)

I have the MSport pkg, and the DCC, and I have the leather surround. It comes with the SAT.

I have a 35i with the sport activity package and it has the leather. I think it is a U.S. thing.....

its curved more than the regular one, look like it comes on the 35i only

your out of luck with the diesels. even the 30d msport. must come with the sports transmission which only available on the 35i at least outside the US

please no, so my 30d with vdc and all other possible driving options available for the 30d will not have this nice leather? this is crap c

//edit: checked the configurator, this nice stick is indeed only with the sportautomatic transmission and this is not available for the x3 30d... it is available for the 5series 25d, 30d, etc... so fuck knows why they cannot give us that option on the X3 30d.
If it was not because of the greatness of the BMW driving dynamics I would really like to tell them to go f* themselves, the marketing of BMW is worse then a pedo priest in a childgarden

So lessons learned: when going for BMW get the biggest, in this case X5 if you want to have all the sweet stuff... and it will even not be that more expensive

Dont worry coiken it is a big step up from the X1 interior, I would have liked the leather gator but it no deal breaker

Enough pressure and it might be made available (like they did with the sports steering wheel in europe as a stand alone option)

I know, but I'm getting frustrated by the limited amount of customization options bmw is offering for some of its cars, like this X3 for example.
I don't mind spending some € on options and personalizing features but they don't allow us too...

Don't get me wrong, I love these cars, but I honestly believe they could be even a lot better if they would offer the customization options Audi has.
