Latest Motor Trend update

Seems silly to waste and update on a body shop trip. The last part regarding throttle delay has me intrigued. Probably will be a disappointment, though.

Really looking forward to their next post when they start digging into the throttle delay they've been experiencing...

How on earth do they expect to fix the delay? Especially if it's something that's intentionally programmed into the vehicle's code.

+1 This was my first thought too. Honestly cannot imagine that there will be anything useful to come out of their research, but I won't hold my breath.

roundtree, you must not have read the info in the link above it is a common complaint.

Would anyone accept brakes on a car that only provided 80% of what your foot called for?

In some circumstances, the accelerator peddle can be used just as effectively as the brake peddle when avoiding accidents.

I did read it and understand the frustration. I came to my X3 from a Honda Fit, which felt something like driving a go-kart for its ability to come off the line quickly. It's not uncommon to me by any stretch. But also am aware that the delay is intentional to improve fuel economy, as has been discussed on these forums ad nauseum.

Had our X3 35i at dealer to install hitch and mentioned about the throttle lag/jumpy throttle. The performed a TSB on it to reprogram the throttle. It is much improved with a more linear response now. I highly recommend getting it done. The info on my paperwork says SIB 24 02 12, DME EGS Software Calibration.

I just googled the work order description and came across this thread: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=251173

It looks like its a long known issue.
