G10

Remembered this thread while browsing a Sears store. Thanks to Lotus, now my X3 glovebox slot is filled with this light from Coast. Its now called G10 and features a "Red Ring of Quality". not kidding.

i've been carrying a fenix ld01 on my keychain for some time, and can't speak highly enough of it. put in a lithium battery and it will store a charge for quite a while. it has 3 light levels, with the highest being 72 lumens. recently i had a conversation with two carpenters outside my house while night fell, examining various parts of the house and the deck they were working on, all lit by a flashlight just 76.2mm long and 14mm wide.

[they make great gifts, btw.]

In Finland we have a saying that if you are not sure wether or not to buy a sail boat, do a simulation: Put on your clothes and go take a cold shower. And while in shower, rip to peaces 100 € bills for 15 minutes. If you liked that, buy a sail boat.

I tried the Fenix and it does not hold in the slot. The diameter is not large enough to grip.

Lotus, Coast is going to need to get a better contract - one free after 5,000 sales - because you just sold another flashlight at Sears.

Survey form doesn't mention that free offer is for G10. Are we missing some thing?

Good Luck!

When I bought mine I filled out the same survey, just expecting a random free flashlight. The one they sent me was in fact a G10, which was perfect because my girlfriend also has an X3 and wanted one of these.

Well, thanks for the tip... I just registered for mine. Assume this will fit in the slot on the glove box door...

Being responsible for three 2012 X3s, I ordered a promotional Coast G10 and three of the gift pack version of the LD01s that include the R4 black anodized aluminum, not the R5 stainless, and an E01 that is pink or perhaps violet. When they arrived within a day of each other, I found myself in a "Goldilocks" situation. The G10 is too big and the LD01 is too small although they both claim a 14mm diameter. The E01 at claimed 14.5mm also is too small. The problem with the G10 is that it is a real press fit and too inconvenient to pry out from either its front or back end. In order to arrive at a "just right", I started wrapping electrical tape, one full turn at a time, around the LD01, using what I always keep around, Scotch Professional Grade Super 33+ which is 19mm wide and .177mm thick. When I reached six full turns, the LD01 was snug enough to stay in place during a door close of more than typical force and easy to remove by pulling on the included key ring. The tape is around the smooth section of the head end placed so that its rear edge is aligned with the rear edge of the of the head end with a slight overlap onto the knurled section. My caliper's 3+ digit display shows 16mm as the new diameter. I plan to find some other uses for the G10 and three E01s.
