2012 Retrofit Bluetooth
Hi all
I just picked up my 2012 X3 on Saturday but I didn't notice that it wasn't fitted with Bluetooth. All my previous BMW's were I think I just missed this when I looked at the spec. Anyway I am looking at trying to get Bluetooth fitted for the phone only (not really bothered about music etc). My main questions are - can you retrofit the Bluetooth to make the car look OEM or is it best to look at some sort of aftermarket Bluetooth like parrot etc.. Thanks |

It depends on whether there is a combox or not.... once you know this, you can see what your options are
Take a look at this: http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734757 Last edited by honeybadgerch; 03-23-2016 at 05:44 AM.. Reason: link |

I believe the combox is located (at least in US models) behind the port side removable trunk trim panel (i.e. above the left wheel arch), next to the sound system amp.

Sorry to hear that. Unless you're comfortable with coding and wiring a combox in, I'd recomend a bluetooth dongle such as this one:

IF you want something a little cheaper than the Belkin, these ones made in china work good too.
http://www.amazon.com/Updated-eranto...luetooth+music It plugs right into the USB port in the center console (assuming you have that) and then right back into the aux input next to the USB port. This is what I use on my 2009 Caddy CTS (As there was no BT streaming in 2009 in CTS) and it works great. I get in my car and within 3 seconds my phone is paired. I can also have my bluetooth hands free on my iphone paired at the same time. Good luck! |

Been having a look today and actually think I might try and get a combox fitted then get it coded locally. I think my next question is what one should I go for, seen a few on eBay, can you just get any one of them coded? Sorry these might be straight forward questions but this is my first time doing this sort of thing. cheers
