TO ALL- my current car finance runs out in December. Would I be better keeping my current car, and order the new X3 for delivery on new March 2013 Registration. If I get the new X3 for December, I presume I could be loosing some money at resale time.
Didn't manage to get there in the end...my contact at the dealer is on his hols, so will hang on until he is back.

I am probably going to wait for March 2013 delivery too.

Has anyone used Personal Contract Hire (PCH) to get their X3. I'm drawing closer and closer to ordering an X3 soon, but just weighing up the finance. I could pay cash, out of my recently sold house (I'm currently renting), but I don't want to tie up the cash in a car. Other options are PCP (BMW Select) or other.
For a X3 3.0d Auto (Prof Media) no other options, I have a PCH intial quote of £2251 + 23 payments of £750 (2 years deal incl. VAT). Does that sound reasonable?

That doesn't sound too far off the mark. Presumably that doesn't include maintenance?

My lease is from Alphabet (owned by BMW), it's personal lease though our company has a deal with them which brings a discount. With maintenance I pay £640 (incl VAT) per month for 3 years, this is on a 10k mile/yr contract.

Bit the bullet and ordered the car today!!!
I started off down the 8%-9% discount required + 5.9% APR t0 get me to sign. Ended up agreeing a deal of 10% discount, but only on the basis of using BMW select finance PCP at 7.9% (over 2 years). So with the slightly higher APR, in the end I got around 8% discount on the car. Not many options ordered because I'm concerned about loosing the money on them.

So Spec is X3 3.0d SE, Professional Media, Extended Storage, Sports Steering Wheel, model designation deletion. Oyster Leather, Mineral Silver.
Approx Delivery date- Beginning Oct 2012.

If anyone wants any further details let me know.

Thanks for everyones help so far......

Smile

Congratulations and welcome to the waiting list.

You are right to be careful about options- they are not a great investment but a few make the car more attractive when you come to sell and add to the pleasure of ownership.

Looks like the lead times are coming down on the 30d.

New to the forum but placed my order today in the UK and been given a delivery date of either the 20th August or in September with the new plates!
Thought I was in for a 3-5 month wait

Hi Matt,
If its a private buy I would have thought that September delivery would be essential otherwise you could be loosing money come resale time.

Might be worth holding off for the latest pro nav next April. Looks a lot better than the current one

Yes I have been reading the details. I am in no particular hurry and was thinking about next March anyway so a month or two delay wouldn't hurt.

Would be good to get something new to help compensate for what happened first time round. Every cloud...

It is funny how things turn out. Mrs W ended up with more or less her dream job, so a blessing in disguise in the end.

Often works that way. I'm pleased she's done well as it's not nice suddenly finding yourself out of work. Not an easy job market at the moment so she's done very well

I have opted for the September delivery with new plates, it's a company car so won't get stung on the money front - wish I could hold off until April but with a little one due in January need to move now from an E93 as don't fancy putting a baby seat in the back!! Speced it with pro nav / apps etc so hopefully it should be ok! Especially as used to having a tomtom on the dash so will be an improvement

Got to the dealer today and was offered a car for September, but have decided to hang on until next year. Ended up trading my MINI for a M135i hatch though. I didn't see that coming.

Is anyone in the UK expecting delivery of their x3 this month/early next?

If so, what dates have you been quoted?

I have been told possible arrival next weekend....

Hi, can anyone recommend a good quality rubber boot liner for the X3. I need the type that has a small 1 inch lip around the edge. BMW have quoted me £59.51p (incl VAT). I presume I can get a non branded one for somewhat less?

Try eBay. Here's one, there are others. Haven't used myself so can't give any recommendation.

If you look under the wing mirrors you will see two bulges, they are the cameras.

Makes parking like playing frogger.

My only gripe is no view of the front ...

Since top view I have become anally retentive about parking exactly parallel bang centre of the parking lines in parking bays down the middle of the road.

We bought this one

http://www.carmats4u.com/BMW-Boot-Li...3,product.html

It's ok for the money and fits well. Only tip is the bumper protector flap doesn't come fitted...it's a DIY job.

Now at 1200 miles!

Bloody sun was out and wife was complaining her 135i M Sport convertible was gathering dust.

Reluctantly drove it.

Even with the top down I love my X3 more.

The steering on my X3 is much lighter and so much nicer. I also prefer the ride position in the X3 and VDC over standard Sports suspension any day!

Still, had a good thrash with the 135i ...

Oh yes and I can say that the TV function is amazing. If you have a passenger and are disciplined enough not to look at it and make the appropriate adjustments ... Well she really enjoyed Wimbledon and the Football while I was enjoying driving my X3!

I am no audio expert, but for sure the high end speakers on my X3 put her basic ones. (3 years old) to shame. It's not a like for like ... But if it's indicative ... Go pro speakers!
