How is your trunk gap?
While washing up the X3 this morning, the trunk lid actually contacts the bumper cover when it's closing and closed. Do all of yours look this way?
I'm thinking they removed the bumper to install the hitch and didn't get it put back correctly:

Mine does not look like that either. I'd say something is wrong.

Well... I guess I'll have the dealer fix that up.
Sometimes, I wonder about the techs. They installed the hitch, and put the wiring harness on backwards, so it hung about 5" below the hitch. I took it apart and realize they had the holder snapped in backwards. Now, it's properly tucked under the bumper and out of the way. I should back-charge them the $125/hour they charge us for service!

It happened to mine when they installed the hitch. I took it back to the dealer it turns out they broke the clips that hold the bumper down. My only suggestion would be to get it back to the dealer before it scratches the bumper opening and closing.

Wow that looks like a unprofessional install.
Hope they won't give you a run around.

Maybe someone reversed into somthing?
Maybe someone reversed into something and didn't tell you!
I say this because the gap is less in the middle than the left and right hand side. I think you should have a conversation with anyone who has driven the car lately. |

What's the verdict schedule? Did the dealer make this right? Any damage to the hatch?

No verdict yet - I live 90 minutes from the dealer, so I'll have to get it down there. I'm not too worried about it - if it is scratched because of their mistake (where the lid contacts the bumper), I'll ask them to touch it up.
gstyle333: I've been the only one to drive it, and I haven't backed into anything. Yet.

Hmmm - that's possible. The only time I had the X3 parallel parked was when I also had the receiver hitch attached, so it's not too likely. Still.... it's possible. I think I have a pic of the X3 when I picked it up at the dealer, so I'll have to find that pic to verify that it was that way from the time I got it!

FYI - the dealer fixed some broken clips (under warranty). Looks normal now.

Nice.
Did you check for damage on the boot paint where it made contact with the bumper cover?

Not too closely, but I didn't notice anything. It's a lease, so I'm not as crazy about the little details as I would be if I owned it!

$700 for parts, $700 for installation, but they discounted that a bit when I bought the X3.
