question on bluetooth hands free

quick question - the missus said that she could hear me loud and clear from outside the car when i was using the bluetooth hands free function?

is this meant to be normal? i would certainly hope not!

1. If windows are open, all outsiders can listen to you.
2. If you keep the volume of the phone low, then you would also talk loud thinking that other will not listen to you. This is natural.

If your radio is loud enough for outsiders to hear, so will your phone conversations.

There are already so many three-letter-agencies listening in, what's one more person?

maybe i'm not explaining myself properly.

we can't hear the radio from the outside of the car but if i'm having a conversation with someone using the bluetooth handsfree, it's as though there's a loudspeaker and we can hear the conversation cleraly from outside the car as though we were outside the car, ie there's no buffling of the conversation at all.

If I did not misunderstand the point here, it is probably due to the fact that general insulation in F25 X3 is relatively poor , especially at the doors and windows. Several members had posted similar issues as you did, like easily hearing their wives talking outside the car when all was fully closed, or as in our case, more than appropriate levels of wind and traffic noise while driving. Clivem has forwarded a BMW executive's technical explanations to this in the following thread: http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showth...=591028&page=6

Do they only hear what comes out of the speaker or both sides of the conversation? If it is only the speaker I would suspect insulation or barrier missing by the speaker. If it is both then that is pretty poor sound isolation.

Totally normal; it's a car not the cone of silence. Shocked you'd think otherwise.

Not really buying that there's such a difference between entertainment audio an phone. If there is, tone it down.

I agree. They use the same speakers, so hard to believe one can be heard outside and the other can't.
