35i is certainly more than enough power- I own a 2012 with non turbo 6 cylinder and it moves car along well enough.

Those little N20,s run fine but they had mechanical hiccups early on- maybe fine after 2016 but I'd be wary of earlier model.

BMW straight 6 is what the company is known for- they are IMO and experience the most solid motors with minimal potential issues; best choice if you plan to keep car long term. I dove 2 of my prior cars with 6 cyl motors to 225K and never any major problem.

From all the research I've done on X3's you're fine with getting a xdrive28i from 2016-2017 because of the N20 engines early on. Also fine with getting the ones with 6 cyl engines.

The best bet IMO is to get one with the 6 cyl engine. They will outlast the 4 cyl.
Also, DO NOT get one with halogen headlights. They're the worst and can't be easily retrofitted.
Good luck on your search!

M-Sport Package

My 2017 X3 3.0i has those same headrests, they are not aftermarket as mine came new from the dealership with them. The best I can discover is that they are part of the M-Sport package.

As realoem does not show any indicator for headrests with and without the "X" in them and it is widespread, it appears this change was made without changing the part number. Are they only on newer X3's with specific leather interior colors? Or all colors of leather interiors?

My '16 X3 xdrive35i has them. It has the XLine package.

Perfect! That's what we thought, but it's good to have confirmation! Thank you!
