Electric Tailgate Issue

I have a 2014 BMW X3, its been into the dealers recently for a parking sensor problem, that's been fixed but after being in the garage my tailgate no longer works properly, it was fine before the repair. I live some distance from the dealers and do have it booked in again early next year but wondered if anyone knows of a quick fix.

The problem is, If the car is locked and I try to open the tailgate using the remote nothing happens. But if I use the vehicle unlock button to open the car and then use the remote to open the tailgate it works perfectly, once the vehicle is unlocked I can use the remote to open and close the tailgate as normal.

It's a bit of an odd problem and I can live with it the way it is but if anyone knows of an easy fix that I can try that would be great and it would save me another trip to the dealers.

Thanks

Phil

Hopefully someone got a fix because if you go to the stealership its going to cost you an Arm (diagnostic) and a Leg (repair).

I've been dealing with a similar issue. Check to see if you have water in the battery tray. There is a control box (it's white) and it has the tailgate electronics in it.

I just paid BMW a shit ton of money to find the leak. They said they found the leak, yet my battery tray is again filled with water. Best of luck.
