Hi all,

My X3 2014 F25 is close to requiring a new set of tyres.

Currently have a staggered setup on Pirellia P Zero Run Flats: Front 245/45 R19 98Y and Rear: 275/40 R19 101Y. The above Pirellis are classed as Summer Tyres.

I want to stick with a staggered setup with Runflats and have BMW Star rating tyres, which restricts the choices, but I'm fine with that and just after some advice.

In your opinion, should I stick with Pirellia P Zero or try a different brand? The Pirellis are rated poor for fuel economy but are ok with the dry/wet.

I would prefer an all year round tyre which performs in all conditions, not just summer. The weather is on/off here in the UK all year round, but I haven't been able to find an all-season with BMW star rating in a staggered setup.

The Pirelli is an old tyre, so I was thinking of maybe Bridgestone or some of the other brands like Michelin etc.

Anyone offer up any suggestions??? I find the lower the tread has gone, the more uncomfortable the ride has gotten, not to mention the road noise increase on the Pirellis

My x3 came with staggered michelin primacy run flat tyres.
I've always been a big fan on Michelin and seem to like the ride of these as well.

I have found that Pirelli P Run Flats treats worn faster than Conventional tires and firm ride. I am not what other people think of that.

Run Flat definitely make a firm ride. Don't like them at all and changed to non-run flat p-zero. They're great. I didn't consider the "star" on the tire though. At the end of the day, once you decide on the brand/model, it's the format and load index that's important in my opinion.
I would stick to dedicated winter and summer tires. A friend has all-season and hates them: He says they're a compromise and neither great in cold nor in warm conditions.

I disagree with that, I have been running the Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season and found it superb, was great in the late summer when they went on in 20ºc and during the cold and wet spell they were also very impressive.

They never felt squidgy like the winters I have run, but also didn't firm up when the temps dropped. I think for the UK they are brilliant and I would definitely run them again.

Mine were non run flats, I hate the X3 on run flats, ruins an otherwise almost perfect car imho.
I didn't like the X3 at first when I tested it back in 2011, it was only when I was lent one in the autumn of 2013 that I appreciated the car, turns out it had come on proper tyres from the factory, I was so impressed with the ride I bought one.

When I collected my car I was gutted, it was skittish at the back and crashed over pot holes and raised iron works, it felt like my early run flat cars. I pulled over on the way home to check the tyres and sure enough they had put new run flats on by mistake.
They swapped them for 4 proper tyres and the car was sublime.

Try and test drive an X3 with proper tyres, the difference is stunning!!!
