Question Set convenience package key fob to open windows

Sorry if this has been asked before, but didn't find anything in by searching....

My convenience package key fob won't open the windows when I hold down the unlock button. Sure would be a nice thing to do when approaching the car on a hot day.

All of the other BMWs I've owned would open the windows and sunroof when the unlock button was depressed for a period if time.

Is this something I can easily change, or does it require a trip to the dealer?

Thanks

This should be the default setting.

I did not know this waste case and it worked for my car. I figured the opposite would work and holding down the lock button would close the windows and sunroof, but it does not. What gives?

BMW has already programmed that reverse case but Unfortunately that needs coding to enable.

I think to let the remote to open all windows, you can't be too close to the car. The same applies to the trunk open control - I can only open it with the remote from a distance. I guess BMW figures we shouldn't be using the remote if we are standing next to the car.

No you are not correct. I could open the windows from as close as few inches away from the door handle.

With this car or an older BMW. In my experience it doesn't work on US F25s as it used to with other BMWs -- in my case a 330i. Can't use the key to either open or close the windows or fold the mirrors. Holding the door handle will close windows and sunroof (haven't tried leaving the tailgate open and trying the door handle, I wonder . . . ).

I have US F25 and it works well. Sequence: Unlock the car first and then again hold unlock button for few seconds, you would see windows rolling down.

Thank you. My bad, opening works fine as you described. I haven't been able to get closing to work, have you?

It is there, but it is disabled in the US. Closing can only be enabled by coding.

Our X3 has the comfort access and I can close the windows by leaving my finger on the door handle. Pretty awesome!

I believe this feature is country specific.

Works now

Thanks to the commentary in this thread, I can now get my key fob to open the windows. The trick seems to be to 1st unlock the doors, then release the unlock button, and then press the unlock button a second time and hold.

I re-read the manual again today, and it didn't say anything about using a two step process, but that seems to work for my X3.

Thanks everyone.
