X 3 Technology Package Ztp
HAS ANYONE DETERMINED IF THE DROID X SMART PHONE IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE ConnedtedDrive technologies that allow reading of emails and text to speech functions? I tried to sync with a new X 3 at our dealership and while the phone will receive calls, the business function doesn't work. It seems that if you are going to pay for this advertised function, and to date it only seems to work on one phone, that hopefully BMW is going to offer a software fix for a greater variety of phones.
I'm going to drive from the factory in Spartanburg all the way across the nation to California and would love to have the technology functions work! |

I believe email only works on the blackberry. BMW has a close relationship with apple, I wouldn't expect strong integration with android for a bit. You still have the music functions including Bluetooth streaming.

According to the Delivery Specialist I had at the Performance Center, the capability is a phone dependent function. It will depend on a software update from the phone manufacturer to enable the mobile office functions. Only blackberry and Sony Ericsson phones currently support it.

As far as I know, not yet. The ConnectedDrive technology is making use of the Bluetooth MAP profile (Message Access Profile). This is a proposed, but not finalised profile of the Bluetooth spec. As such, phone software manufactures have been slow to adopt.
No sign of this support in any Android based phone as yet. |
