Airport Parking Security

I'm going to be parking the new X3 at an airport for an extended time. Are there any simple solutions to detect movement of the car and send an alert to an iPhone or BMW central command? BMW Remote seemed promising but I guess there is a 1.5km range limit. Any third party solutions?

How about just recording the mileage?

How about leaving your vehicle at home and taking a taxi?

Even if you do get a notification, what could you do when you're in the middle of your trip? MHO Is that you save yourself the headache.

I know where the OP is coming from as I would quite like to do this for peace of mind - like the remote lock on My BMW Remote. The car is able to send you its location but it's blocked by the 1.5km privacy range. I spoke to BMW about whether they could check and override the 1.5km beause I lost my keys once and wanted to see if the car was where I left it. The answer was a definite no - but surely they can access this information if the police were involved?

Only options are trackers or maybe a Heath Robinson solution like an old iPhone hidden somewhere

BMW assist should be able to help you. You can simply call them and ask a general question that you wanted to make sure that your car tracking is working. BMW assist can locate your car in their system. I don't know if they going to like you calling them multiple times a day. Good luck.

I have tried this before and you can't as I've already said. They will not give you the location of the car.

Try a cell phone tracker a service you can subscribe under $10 per month. If you going to use this for many times just buy a pay-as-you-go phone that is compatible. This investment will pay off the taxi charges depending the distance to the airport and number of times you are planning to travel.

Battery Concerns

If you will be away for an extended period of time I would be concerned about maintainig a full charge on the battery. Even when your little beauty is sitting around it needs juice.

And it needs even more juice every time you wake it up and ask it to tell you where it is

Take a taxi and leave the X3 safely tucked away at home. This one should get you to the airport on time.
