X3 e83- best color?

Considering used X3 with Msport or regular spec but with sport seats/steering wheel. (2007+ year)

Which color this car looks best, if it's a facelift model? Is the Msport a must have? Or Black car with normal plastic bumpers is OK too? NOt too many around so hard to decide here which color looks best on it. Appreciate tips from former or current owners!

I know it's been a while but seeming no one has replied, i'll try and be of help.

We got a 2010 factory order model, so we had a choice of what we could order. Spent a few days considering on what we wanted and went looking at a lot of second hand models to see the best colour/exterior options....

I found that if you go for the SE, the running boards make hell of a difference to the looks, it makes the car look more 4x4 like and wider rather than tall and narrow. Personally I liked the black in the SE as it goes well with black trim. In regards to the sports seats, ours doesn't have them but the standard ones hold you pretty well. I'd agree on the Sport steering wheel though, one thing we should have ordered.

In regards to the M-Sport while the colour coded bumpers and the sport package are nice we didn't think it suited the car as well. It made it look really tall and narrow, however it's everyone to their own. However I do think that the Space Grey suited the M-Sport better, and i've seen a few White ones round here that look good in M-Sport.

One thing I'd suggest is try to find one with the Pano Roof, we didn't get this and I really wished we had, even though it's a £1000+ option in the UK.

appreciate your input. i like dark gray in SE spec with offroad xline package (silver running boards etc) or black like you said.

i saw Msport in real life- it does look a bit too tall and narrow, I agree.

roof is a hard sell for me - i know they tend to leak and it is a 1000 EUR fix.

Yes, the Space Grey probably does look good with all the Silver bits. We didn't have an option of an X-Line pack in the UK, just running boards. We did have the Edition Premium pack though, which included Silver grill, Chrome tailpipe, better wheels, Space Grey Interior Trim (See pic attached)

If you do go for black though, take a look at the Metallic black (Black Sapphire), rather than just the Black. We thought it looked much better.

I see your point about the pano roof, especially since a second hand X3 will be out of warranty.

nice car you have there, very clean. I think the dark gray is what I'll go for once I find one. With weather now being all snowy they aren't for sale from private anymore, so I might have missed my window this year. I still reckon it comes out as the best buy for a used 4wd bmw at this point as its cheaper than X1 or 3 series touring, while more reliable and with more room. I've settled on a 2.0d with automatic gearbox and 176 hp engine.

I actually realised recently that with all this nice wraps you can put on a car, color becomes really a thing that's so simple to change. A film in gray metallic with another clear film on top can solve any paint issues I guess.

Having looked at quite a few in real life since my last post, now I'm convinced Silver Gray metallic non Msport is best looking X3 for me personally (face lift). I liked black and Blues as well, but something about this dark gray color on X3 makes it look like a l little tank.

Also, the off road running boards really transform the car and balance out its lower section. I think it's a must have.

Agreed...I like the off road running boards too. But I'm too cheap to spend ~$800 for what is basically a cosmetic mod.

I did see a guy on Ebay who has aluminum pieces meant to install on the existing black small running boards for ~$280. But again, my cheap nature questions why for just a cosmetic mod. But agreed, the running boards do look good.

They really trasnform the car in my opinion, adding that bit of contrast and making car look lower without making it look too tall, if you know what I mean. Msport looks too tall esp in lighter colors.

I would only go for the boards OEM, or none at all. What they sell on Ebay I saw and it looks like crap.

The OEM boards over here were only £200 extra, which I didn't think was bad value. I think your on about the non OEM ones though, which agreed with the above poster don't look the same.

for me black sapphire. that coupled with running boards and 18" rims makes it stand out. no mention of interiors which is equally important to me so I found one with oyster/back 2-tone with nevada leather. couldn't be happier.

Edit: mtmcgavock, i love the clear corners. is that only a UK option?
