Test Drove 2011 X3 35 Std. suspension with DHP, few Q's
Test Drove 2011 X3 35 Std. suspension with DHP
I belive DHP on 35 X3 with Std suspension gives you 1) VSS 2) Peformance Control and 3) upgrades std fixed suspension to Adaptive I test drove the X3 in Sport by moving the rocker switch to Sport and did not mess anythinon the I-drive. The car rode well but I felt the steering was still lose and did not have much feel . A) Can DHP owners give feeeback if Sport helps the VSS steering? I thought VSS steering is supposed to be better than std servotronic in terms of steering feel and firmess. Is there another setting in I-Drive to firm up the steering that i missed? B) Can MSport owners or SAP owners without DHP give their feedback on Steering feel in Sport mode? trying to see if Servotronic gets better in Sport mode in msport or SAP and if Dhp is not ideal if lookign for that typical bmw steering feel |

DHP
I have a 3.5 with DHP (non M Sport) and you should be aware that the Sport setting on the DHP is programable with two selections[*]Chassis can be set on or off, on tightens up the steering, shocks and suspension a noticable degree.[*]The other setting is for the power train: engine throtle tip in, higher shift points, no 7th or 8th gear: etc again on or off.
If you could not feel any difference Normal to Sport in the steering, it could be that someone set the Chassis to off in the demo car. Audi lovers tend to do this. Last edited by vrrooom; 08-03-2011 at 10:09 AM.. Reason: spelling |

Sport setting with the suspension setting on sport definitely change the steering feel - it gets heavier and feels more precise to me.

Even if the X3 does not have DHP, you still get the exact same choices for the sport mode in the Idrive menu. I have a 35i without DHP and SAP and I can feel a nice difference in the steering when I have it in sport. It is tighter and heavier.
