Ignition trouble - F25 wont start on first press of ignition button

My F25 won't start on the first press of the ignition button on entering the car while the brakes are engaged (starter engages but sounds like battery is dying). Although after turning the electric system on (pressing ignition without brakes) and waiting for that initial humming/pumping sound, then attempting to start works.

What is that 3-second humming/pumping sound on initial ignition press by the way?

Please help!

When you walk up to the car and open the drivers door do you hear the buzzing noise
