I'm at 155k km right now
I've been hearing whining noise when i accelerate,

Does the engine sound normal?
or
is it the dreaded timing chain / guide ive been reading here a lot.
I had no idea lol
i'm getting it checked by the mechanic 2 weeks from now.
I will be gone most of the time, except for 3-4 days i have to drive.

What are your thoughts?
safe to drive those 3-4 days?

That just sounds like 4 cylinder engine clatter. Mine sounds pretty much like that. But I have no whine. The whine, which is not in you video, is potentially more concerning.

Interested to hear how you make out...we are 144K (KM) on a 2015 x3 N20.

But the sounds I am hearing is the High Pressure Fuel pump/injectors....yep sounds like a diesel - most noticable on cold start.

Even if you get it checked using an endoscope etc..and its ok..its a dice roll if it stays that way....while you own it.

My son is going to keep it...so will do the preventative maint.

that sounds like a good idea.
I'm planning to keep the car until I move out of this province.. so another 2 years or so. I was checking out some new cars and the rate is just too crazy for me at the moment, the price as well.

i'm hoping that the supply exceeds the demand within those two years, so there are lots of cars sitting in the lot (go below MSRP, or MSRP)
