Except these are non-US spec vehicles due to lack of orange front reflectors, maybe being shipped overseas, but doesn't have shipping package. The window paper does indicate crash.

it really does look like a cross of the old X4, 3 GT, and Merc GLE

I really wanted to get the X4M, but after seeing this I am disappointed, I like the old X4 better (exterior). I will probably just get the X3M (also disappointed in that, hardly looks any different from M40i).

Allows BMW to test production and ship them wherever they need to be crash tested.

Two birds one stone.

It's as if two different people or teams designed the front and rear. The front has a more classic appeal while the rear is more future looking design but with kia/Infiniti elements. Overall the mixture is jarring and not cohesive

"Styling wise, the new X4 features a new sleeker/sportier roofline and a better resolved rear end design with much smaller tail lights."

sounds like an opinion or words from an official BMW mouthpiece... The styling is only something a mother can love.

Still don't quite get the point of this type of vehicle... a 4x4 trying to be a sports coupe!?! Drivers appear to be buying into this SUV Crossover market big time and I just don't understand why!

To my mind there are only two possible reasons... 1) Someone who wants a taller car because they have back problems, getting in/out of the car being easier with seats higher off the ground 2) Appearances/status... these cars tend to be substantially more expensive than a normal car of the same length!

I've been tempted by this type of vehicle but I always ask myself what normal car could I buy with the same money a base SUV of roughly the same size costs? A car with far higher spec basically, so I always end up with a 'car' rather than an 'SUV'... and I've never regretted it yet!!!

My other bugbear is that most premium SUVs only come with 4x4 (which, lets be honest, most people don't need, unless they live in a country with very bad winters) and auto boxes, neither of which appeal to me!

I believe that the tail lights on this SUV is an indication of the styling that will be using on the all-new 8 Series.

I'm not feeling the double kink (for lack of a better word) on the C-pillar.

I think that was a successful move on the new 6GT to make it look sleeker, but it makes the x4 look boxier and less sleek.

Great post comparison.

The X Line is clearly becoming more GT like and that is a damn shame.

disappointing the direction they are going, if this is the new design language the X6 will be supersized GT model.

Agreed... they are now so close in appearance that there seems little point in BMW producing both the X and GT models!!

Real shame because surely it would cost them so much less to produce a single model, with lots of engine/drive options rather than two completely separate models!!

Some of that saving could be passed on to the consumer giving us still lots of choice but a better deal... just too many cars in the range altogether now! I know people say choice is good and I agree to a point, but it's not good if the cars become stupidly expensive (which IMO the X cars tend to be)

I guess the GT is for someone wanting practicality but with a much lower sportier set up for road use only (although how many people actually take their X models off road!?)

BMW wants to make 7 batches of cookie dough and use a set of cookie cutters that are almost Identical with an exception of size.
