tire wheel question for X3

Hello all,
I had a 335i BMW for only 45 days due to continuos car trouble. The BMW gave me a fare traede for a X3 Base model.
I had winter tire/wheel combo for the 335i; below are the measurements.
Will they fit the X3?
235/40R18 XL Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero Serie II Blackwall
wheels: MR118(Black Painted).
Please advice and thanks to all.

They may fit, but your speedometer will be way off, and you will have a very harsh ride. the 18s for the X3 are 245/50/18. the tire/wheel you want to put on will cause your speedometer to be off by over 5 mph (5 mph too slow). I would also be concerned about damaging the wheels as the X3 weighs over 500 pounds more and you will have very little sidewall protection should you hit a pothole. I wouldn't do it.

You can still salvage the wheels (if they fit) and just buy some correct sized snow tires for the X3.

As stated by fedinand "I wouldn't do it"
Those tires have a load rating that is 16% lower that the correct tires for a X3, so you would have to run much higher air pressure to properly support the car. That will lead to a very uncomfortable ride, and an even higher chance of sidewall damage because of the low ("40" aspect ratio) profile. Also the tires are 9.4% smaller in diameter, that means they must turn 9.4% more revolutions/mile. Your speedometer will read 6.6 mph HIGHER at 70 mph. Your fuel consumption will also increase slightly because of the higher engine revs. You won't be happy.

Of course, if the wheels fit, if you don't do any high speed driving with those tires, if you don't drive any long distances, if you NEVER hit a pothole, if your local roads are billiard table smooth, and you don't care about having an accurate speedometer, you MAY be OK with them.......sorry!
