2013 X3 xdrive28i not accelerating

I was driving home from work and about ten minutes into the drive the car suddenly lost power. Even flooring in it took me about 10 seconds to get to 40 miles an hour. No check engine light until I turned off the car and turned it back on. The oil temperature gauge is also not seemingly working. After letting it sit for about 10 minutes it goes back to normal operation and the engine light is off. How should I go about fixing this issue? Take it to a shop or could this be something simple I can figure out myself?

with a BMW you should always have a odb reader.

On the f25 it can be multiple stuff, especially with the N20 engine.

I had similar symptoms on my n55, and it was the gas pedal. Those will fail if there's moisture. But I scan the car, and it was obvious, 3 codes about throttle sensor (no check engine). 50$ on rock auto and it was fixed.

Update:
Checked the codes, got a U1408 (invalid data received from engine coolant temperature sensor) and a CF2DE2 (interface DME/DDE (TEMP_ENG_DRV,3F9) signal invalid).
I checked the engine, and on the front of the engine there is a leak causing engine coolant to leak onto the engine map thermostat and the temp sensor. I just took it to a local shop because I wasnt confident enough to solve the issue with the leak. Thanks for the help and experience.
